Statement of Accountability

I will not always be right. Elections are complicated, everyone is imperfect, and analytical judgment inevitably involves uncertainty. I will make bad predictions, have flawed takes, and miss things. Sometimes, I will even make sound probabilistic predictions that will be “wrong” because the favorite loses. Because of this, I will make a deliberate effort to emphasize uncertainty, especially when discussing future events. I encourage readers, peers, and critics to push back on anything I say, especially when they think I have overlooked evidence, framed something unfairly, overstated certainty, or reached the wrong conclusion. When I make mistakes, I will aim to acknowledge them clearly, correct the record, apologize when appropriate, and aim to do better. My goal is not to appear infallible, but to be transparent, intellectually honest, and worthy of trust over time.
